Teaching with Technology

The staff of Savanna High School recognizes the important role of technology in creating a productive, modern society. To be competitive as adults our students will need to posses technological literacy. To this end the Savanna faculty is committed to incorporating technological resources into the school curriculum.

Students at Savanna HS have access to multiple computer labs. Through Savanna's technology media center students are able to access electronic journals, investigate and plan for college and career paths, and utilize academic research resources. As part of their classroom curriculum Savanna students are expected to demonstrate proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, electronic communication, and computer-based presentation. Savanna teachers emphasize technology in their instruction through the use of course specific technologies. These include digital projectors for presentations, individual websites, computerized record keeping and data analysis, and the use of multiple technologies (email, automated phone calls, electronic bulletin boards, websites, Rebel TV podcasts, progress reports, etc.) for communication with students and parents.

The Savanna Grades website, while new and still in the process of being adopted, is one more example of our commitment both to the promotion of technological literacy and to providing students and parents with the resources they need to stay informed and on track. Our goal is to insure that students who graduate from Savanna High School have the skills they will need to be successful in later life.
